Main Focus
The main subjects of the workshop were:
There were 26 invited slots, including 2 introductory talks and a colloquium. There was ample time for discussions, supplemented by 2 discussion sessions, and supplemented by a poster session. The discussion sessions were well attended and generated lively exchange of ideas and arguments about the physics of dissipative systems, touching upon experimental implementations, foundations of quantum mechanics, and even deep philosophical issues. The colloquium given by Prof. Kater Murch was excellent and attracted much attention beyond the audience of the workshop.
The scientific newcomers were requested to present a poster. The poster session was very lively with multiple discussions taking place.
Impact and Takeaway
There were three important facets that amplified the impact: well-focused frontiers-of-physics topic, audience of broad perspectives, emphasis on time for structured (discussion panels) and unstructured discussions. Tangible results: initiating new collaborations, bringing together seemingly disconnected directions, formulating new concrete questions that, undoubtedly will lead to publications.
