Information & Decisions Across Scales: Constraints and Optimality in Neural and Biological Networks

International Workshop
18 - 22 May 2026

This interdisciplinary workshop explores how biological and artificial systems process information to make decisions under energetic and computational constraints.
Bridging scales from molecular sensing to neural processing and machine learning, we will investigate whether universal information-theoretic principles govern adaptive decision-making.

Topics include

  • Information processing under constraints
  • Optimality across scales
  • Decision-making in biological and artificial systems
  • Thermodynamics of information
  • Information in stochastic systems
  • Stochastic reaction networks for computation
  • Collective decision-making
  • Information processing in neural systems
  • Information compression and representation
  • Learning with artificial and biological networks
