Hydrodynamic Approaches to Active Matter: Successes and Future Challenges

International Workshop
09 - 13 November 2026

On the occasion of John Toner’s 70th birthday, this workshop will bring researchers from soft, hard, and active matter physics together to survey the latest advances. A particular focus will be on the hydrodynamic and universal behaviour that emerge in these subfields of condensed matter physics in honour of John’s contributions to these areas.

Topics include

  • Active matter
  • Soft condensed matter
  • Hydrodynamics
  • Universal behaviour
  • Renormalization  group
  • Biological physics
