PhD positions

If you would like to join our group to start your journey into physics research, there are two options:

  • A direct application to the PI via email (awietek[at]pks.mpg(dot)de). The positions are fully funded for three years, with a possible extension of up to a fourth year. For a formal application please include your CV, a letter of motivation, your transcript of records, and one or two letters of reference from previous supervisors or lecturers. Before sending these materials informal preliminary inquiries with a CV about the position and its availability are possible.

  • An application through the International Max Planck Research School IMPRS-MPSSE for Many-Particle Systems in Structured Environments. General Information about the application procedure including deadlines can be found here. This graduate school is hosted by several institutions in Dresden, Wrocław, and Prague, including the MPI-PKS. If you would like to specifically work in our group, please state this explicitly in your application.

PostDoc positions

We are always happy to welcome new PostDocs to our group. Before applying for a PostDoc position please send a preliminary inquiry including your CV to awietek[at]pks.mpg(dot)de. There are several options to pursue a PostDoc at MPI-PKS in our group.

  • PKS PostDoc Fellows. These positions are advertised about every four months and application is handled via the PKS Visitors programm, more information can be found here.

  • Distinguished PKS PostDoc Fellows. These positions are for three years and are an option for more experienced PostDocs. For more information about this position and previous recipients see here.

  • Application for external funding programmes, like the Walter-Benjamin programme of the DFG or the Marie-Curie programme of the European Commision. This route requires preparing a research proposal but offers more independence and successful grant applications are a good option to advance your career. We will give you feedback and advice on writing in advance and support you in the process.
